Special Comments:  Bedstraw has square stems and slender leaves that grow in whorls around the stem. (The picture below is a close-up of a young bedstraw plant).

In some countries this plant is still used to stuff mattresses because of its sweet smell. When it blooms, it has small white flowers. Bedstraw can be seen in the forest throughout the year. One small patch grows on the creek embankment near the Advocates' Seasonal Bridge.
