Plants of the Forest

Common Name: Pacific Starflower Scientific Name: Trientalis latifolia
Blooms: Blooms early spring (March - June) Native: Yes. Native of the area

Special Comments:  The Pacific Starflower resembles trillium and is sometimes confused with it. The leaves of the Pacific Starflower are thinner and smaller than trillium, however, with five to seven leaves in a whorl. (Some Pacific Starflowers, like the one in this picture, have only four leaves). This flower will bloom a pinkish star-like flower around May in Marcel's Forest. It has been spotted along the trail near Stop 6 and a few grow in the Pourroy Garden.
