Poison oak is seen throughout the park, usually as a group of small bushes or vines, especially in previously disturbed patches of land. Although poison oak lives just about anywhere from areas of sun to shade, it is less likely to grow in the shadier areas of Marcel's Forest. This plant should be avoided since its three-lobed leaves, which are green during summer and reddish-green in fall, contain oils that cause skin irritation.
In Marcel's Forest, poison oak has been seen most often on the south-facing slope above Old Growth Loop and on Old Growth Loop just as it leaves Split-Stuff Trail near the entrance Kiosk. Some plants also grow on the previously disturbed edges of the Pourroy Garden.
