Plants of the Forest

Common Name: Rhododendron Scientific Name: Rhododendron spp.
Blooms: Blooms early spring (March-May) Native: There are native California rhododendrons; however, these plants were probably planted.

Special Comments:  The only rhododendrons on Old-Growth Loop, these pretty plants might have been planted in the garden by Mr. Pourroy. They bloom with pink blossoms in mid to late-April. When not in bloom, you can identify them by their height (around 10 to 12 feet), and their thick, leathery green leaves. (The rhododendrons in the Pourroy Garden are about seven feet in height).
