The Seasonal Bridges Are Gone Until Spring

Thanks to the efforts of twelve volunteer trail workers the two seasonal bridges have once again been removed and stowed away for the winter season. We started this special Fall Trail Work Day at the kiosk, fueling ourselves with fresh coffee, homemade cookies and apple cake. A team of six workers per bridge made fast work of the removal process, not that anyone was rushing through the job (except, maybe, for a little friendly competition). The weather was warm, the sun shining, and all-in-all it was a perfect day to put on the big boots and work (playfully) in the creek.

Let’s hope for lots of rain between now and April, when we’ll be re-installing the bridges to provide access across Aptos Creek.

First step, set up a silt fence to protect the habitats downstream.
